An AB SLC 5/03 program was written to read high temperature encoder switches as DI's. The program indicates the rotation and the direction of the motor. A panel was designed with lights for indication and to house the PLC. A second PLC, an AB MicroLogic, was programmed to test encoders before they are used on steel plant ladle application.
